About the Recipe
The most basic, tasty starter dish to really get a feel
Ingredients
2 cups of mushrooms
2 tablespoons of olive oil or butter
2 cloves garlic, minced (optional for extra flavor)
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh herbs like parsley or thyme (optional)
Preparation
Prepare the Mushrooms:
Clean the mushrooms by gently wiping them with a damp paper towel or a soft brush. Avoid soaking them in water.
Slice the mushrooms into even pieces. If they’re small, you can leave them whole.
Heat the Pan:
Heat a large pan over medium-high heat.
Add the olive oil or butter and let it melt and heat up until it’s shimmering (but not smoking).
Sauté the Mushrooms:
Add the mushrooms in a single layer. Let them cook undisturbed for about 3-4 minutes. This helps them brown nicely.
Stir occasionally and continue cooking for another 3-5 minutes until they are golden brown and tender.
Add Garlic and Seasoning:
If you’re using garlic, add it now and sauté for another 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently to avoid burning.
Season the mushrooms with salt and pepper to taste.
Finish and Serve:
If desired, add fresh herbs like parsley or thyme for extra flavor. Stir them in just before serving.
Serve warm as a side dish, on toast, or over pasta.
Enjoy your easy and delicious sautéed mushrooms!
